My daughter has heard Lily Allen on the radio and tv and asked me to get her album.. the reason Im asking this is because some of the subjects Lily sings about are quite adult and im not sure if I would be doing the right thing by letting her listen..

Should I let my 6 year old listen to Lily Allens new album?
I personally wouldn%26#039;t because the lyrics wouldn%26#039;t do an impressionable young mind much good. I don%26#039;t think she would be a very good influence for your daughter. Get her some Bob Marley instead :o)
Reply:Up to you, but do you want your child to know about a girl whose boyfriend cant make her c** and who use%26#039;s the c word.
Shame really cos the songs are allright, some of the language is not suitable for a six year old. Just listen before she does i guess.
Reply:Absolutely not, I have the album and there is foul language throughout. Why don%26#039;t you provide your 6 year old with a childhood instead.
Reply:Well depends on you, can%26#039;t be worse than listening to a 50cent album right?
Reply:WHY NOT MIGHT BE EDUCATIONAL FOR HER
Reply:nooooo man! its got swearing in it like!
Reply:yes you can, when i was 6 i didn%26#039;t really listen to the words that much, i just liked the tune.
Reply:If you don%26#039;t think she should, don%26#039;t let her listen to it. The question I have is why should a bunch of strangers decide what your daughter should listen to? Only you have control over that.
Reply:To be posting this question you must feel that it is not appropriate. However, i must add that as your daughter is only 6 years old will she really understand the adult content?
Her music has really catchy tunes and it is easy to see why your daughter might be attracted to the sound.
Personally, as the mother of 2 now teenage son%26#039;s, i have never limited anything regarding music and they have turned out ok.
The only thing you might encounter is your daughter singing the words. In smile, it starts, %26#039;When you first met me i was wanting more, but you was f...in that girl next door........
You have to ask would you like her repeating these words, because that%26#039;s what children do?
Most children are exposed to worse foul language in the home than in the song, so it is really up to you.........!!!!
Reply:Only as punishment !!
Seriously though, shes a six year old and won%26#039;t understand the subject matter of the songs, why don%26#039;t you encourage her to listen to some different music. Or bribe her and tell her you%26#039;ll nuy her something else instead.
Reply:In a word........... NO.
Reply:let the kid have some freedome thats all you wanted when you were a kid right we all want freedom give it to him
Reply:Instead of buying the album, buy one of Lily Allen%26#039;s singles that doesn%26#039;t have any adult content in it!
Reply:You should download the radio edits from the internet rather than giving her the whole album.
The radio edits are edited for daytime commercial radio.
Reply:Kid tend to repeat songs with friends and I don%26#039;t think you want her doing it in school. It%26#039;s only gonna get her in trouble. I really wish our children did not have to listen to music that influance them in a negative way. I suppose it%26#039;s the world we live in these days.
Reply:Listen to the CD yourself. If you don%26#039;t believe it is correct for her to listen to, then don%26#039;t let her listen to it.
The best person to make that call is you. If you have reservations, I%26#039;d say it%26#039;s best to not let her listen to it. Six years old is very young to be teaching them adult subjects.
Reply:nonono its bad incourgment, teach her the word no, if she gets everything she wishes, she%26#039;ll be a living terror if theres something she cant have when shes older. she had to learn that theres some things in life u want but you cant have... hope that helps xx
