I have an indoor peace lily,about six years old.Plant is thriving but there are insects in the soil.?

They are tiny,white,look like a cross between an ant and a caterpillar,about 2-3 mm long,but there are lots of them.Seem to jump a bit.None on the plant itself.

Take the plant outside and empty it out of the pot - get rid of the soil (and the bugs) and gently hose off all soil from the roots making sure that you get every bug off and any fluffy debris they create in the leaf axles. Wash your pot in hot soapy water and rinse and dry. Re-pot the Lily in fresh bagged compost (mixed with a third of sand or grit if you have it) and it should continue it%26#039;s long and happy life bug-free. Good luck :-)

Cleard the insects out to save d your lilys,or get new soil and cleard the pot.
Reply:If your plant is doing that well, it would be risky to relocate it to a new pot now. I do that if it looks troubled. You can put Sevin Dust in the pot and bring no harm to the plant but kill any bugs in the pot. It%26#039;s a light powder sprinkle, and won%26#039;t hurt people or pets if used in the way I%26#039;m telling you about.
Reply:You may not see them on the plant but they%26#039;re having a feastday underground on the soil and roots of your plant. I mix a little dish detergent with water and use this when I water. It seems to kill off the larva and wash the eggs down the drain. Your local garden centre will also have insecticides that you can use.
