My almost 2 year old child fell into a lily pad pond right outside our house, I was less than two seconds away he just ran and fell right in, I pulled him out quickly and he coughed and cried so he%26#039;s fine but I am just so angry. I panicked and started yelling at him and even gave his leg a light whap when we got in the door. It scared me so bad, but now I am so angry that I got so upset with him he is after all just a child. How can I make it up to him? How can I react better to circumstances such as this I know better than to take it out on my child thinking that just telling him a minute ago to stay away from it and hoping he will remember it what can I do next time just take him in the house.
My son fell in our lily pad pond, he%26#039;s alright but I am so angry with myself?
Don%26#039;t beat yourself up over it. It%26#039;s probably one of many things that he will do that will scare the bejeezus out of you. You reacted in a way that is very normal for parents, you were upset because he didn%26#039;t listen and it could have caused him harm. It%26#039;s the typical running out in the street thing, we tell em%26#039; not to but they do it and then we freak out and don%26#039;t know if we want to hug them or spank them. I would go out by the lily pond and get down to his level and explain that it%26#039;s okay to look at but that we shouldn%26#039;t go near it because we could get hurt...etc. I%26#039;ve also found that when something like this does happen my child tends to understand the danger once he sees mom go bat **** crazy and tell him over and over again how much it scared me and that he shouldn%26#039;t do it. It usually does the trick. Good luck!!
Reply:Dont%26#039; be too hard on yourself! You were emotional and scared and didn%26#039;t handle things perfectly... so what? Nobody is perfect! Frankly your boy is so young that light whap is not going to affect him too much one way or another.
If it makes you feel better, apologize to him, but honestly, it%26#039;s fine. You%26#039;ll be fine. He%26#039;ll be fine.
I don%26#039;t think you%26#039;ll have this problem in the future, as the scary episode of falling in the pond was a natural consequence of running toward it, and your boy is not likely to repeat his actions! However, if he does, just do your normal negative consequence, such as a time-out.
Reply:If it was your lily pond why on earth wasn%26#039;t it fenced off if you have a child this young ?
He isn%26#039;t going to understand why he was smacked and why you reacted the way you did...telling a 2 year old to stay away isn%26#039;t going to work they want to look and check things out..i know i had two two year old%26#039;s !
Forget about this now and just think before you act as my mum always says to me ..after all he is only two
Reply:Things can happen quick. Don%26#039;t feel guilty for getting angry. Anger is just a cover for fear. You were afraid that if you had not been closer, that you would not have realized he fell in and something bad could have happened to him. I have had
my 2 yo fall right in front me and had to get stitches in his head, so accidents will happen, you just have to be calm, and try not to panic, if something does happen. But having any kind of water near your house is pretty dangerous, maybe have a gate put around it if at all possible, or just be prepared to keep your eyes on your son whenever hes outside, even just for a second....
Reply:drain the pond or put a fence around it.
Reply:Please don%26#039;t beat yourself up over this. I%26#039;m sure between you being upset and him being scared from falling that he probably won%26#039;t go near the pond again. It is okay for you to be upset that he scared you, it should upset you enough that you take action so he remembers not to do it again.
Reply:Dont beat yourself up. You probably over racted a bet yelling at him, but its not going to scar him or anything. When I was about that age we had a little creek it was very small mostly muddy, with a littel water in it. I was outside with my dad and I fell in head first and got stuck! My dad had to run over and pull me out. I dont remeber it, but my dad laughs about it now. Of course it scared the crap out of him untill he figured out I was ok. Just teach him to stay away from it, he will be fine!
Reply:Honey don%26#039;t feel so bad you did nothing wrong the main point is that you where right there as for getting mad and swatting him My personal opinion is this is when your suppose to give him a little swat not when they get in your makeup bag or break a lamp times that he could really hurt himself It will make him remember and hopefully keep him from doing it again. Your a good mom I know because if you weren%26#039;t you would not be asking this question give him a big hug and tell him he can%26#039;t ever get into the water again. (also I like the swim lessons idea being you have water so close to your home)
Reply:Basically, you need to explain it to him.
Most importantly, get him into an infant swim class. I have looked into and will be starting my 7 month old in the classes shortly. Check out infantswim.com to see if any classes are offered near your area.
Reply:In all likelihood he%26#039;s probably forgotten your reaction to what happened. It was wrong, obviously he didn%26#039;t mean to fall into the pond. In the future try and give yourself a few seconds to react to thigns he does do wrong. If you feel like you%26#039;re going to lose it/temper or whatever then sit him in a quiet spot like timeout then when youre calm go to him and get on his level and tell him why what he did was not acceptable.
Reply:Well don%26#039;t beat yourself up too much. All that adrenaline from being scared had to come in to play with the way you handled it.
I would say to make it up to him have some cuddle time and tell him you love him. And to react better, just remain calm and pick him up and make sure he%26#039;s ok and then just tell him to be careful. Don%26#039;t feel too bad. All mommies make mistakes :)
Reply:Get a little fence-- don%26#039;t be so hard on yourself-- sh*t happens!
Reply:Please don%26#039;t beat yourself up over it, but take it as a serious warning. I know someone who turned around for two seconds as well, and her child fell into the backyard pool. Sadly, the baby died in the hospital three days later. Please put a fence around your pond, and make a rule that you need to keep your eyes on your son at all times while he%26#039;s outside.
*EDIT* Swim classes for babies and toddlers are NOT meant to teach water safety! That%26#039;s why the AAP strongly discourages them! They give parents a false sense of security. A baby swim class will NOT protect a young child around water; parental supervision will!

Reply:do not feel bad .It happened to me a few hundred time over the years,,,when children do that it scares us and our first reaction is to get angry. parenting is the hardest and most rewarding job in the world,
Reply:The reason for that reaction was because you were scared at the time, which is understandable. I%26#039;m sure your little boy still loves you and knows you love him. It is sometimes hard to keep a clear head when your child is in danger. Just be consistent with him, keep telling him %26quot;No%26quot; while you show him the pond. Don%26#039;t beat yourself up over this. It was an accident.
Reply:what you need to do is to get a special net for covering ponds. I only realised my little one could open doors when I saw her. One day you will be on the phone or balancing your check book and not realised he has stepped out by himself by opening the door or because it was not closed properly. he could easily drown.
this has been your warning to set things right before tragedy strikes.
Reply:The issue is that he could have drowned, drain the pond.
Reply:You know, I read the question title and thought, oh poor girl. I%26#039;ve completely changed my mind on that. I don%26#039;t think that yelling at him or whooping him was the best idea. He%26#039;s not even 2, and you should not punish him because you weren%26#039;t paying close enough attention. I give my 4 year old whoopings, but not for something I very well could have prevented.

Peace lily repotting?
I was given a peace lily in smallish pot (about 12%26#039; diameter), about a year ago. It lives usally in my dorm room and sometimes i admittedly go a while without watering it, i usually wait to see some drooping to water it as to not overwater. The tips do go brownish but thought this may be from the chlorine they put in our water. It has recently just sprouted about 5 flowers, and is very bushy. other than that nothing special, i never fertilize or anything like that.
However i want my plant to get very big so i was thinking about transplanting it to a bigger pot with new soil. Will this cause it to get bigger? Or will it do more harm than good. I was planning to get a very big pot so i dont have to transplant for a few years.
Peace lily repotting?
I have grown many peace lilies. It%26#039;s easy to repot just don%26#039;t get a pot too big, about 2-4 inches bigger. Put new potting soil in leaving about 3 inches in bottom. when you remove plant put the tight roots out a little so they can spread. Yes this will help the plant get bigger.
I hope this helps
Reply:Peace lilies will get as big as the pot they are in. I want mine small, so I keep it in a small pot, my grandmother has a huge one, I would guess the pot is appx 2ft. the lily grew to take up the entire pot.
If you%26#039;re concerned about over watering, get a pot with a reservoir at the bottom and put the water there. When it dries up, add more water.

Irises and lily's?
is it safe to transplant iris%26#039;s and lily%26#039;s this time of year?
Irises and lily%26#039;s?
Daylilies can be dug, divided and planted as soon as they come up. Irises can be safely transplanted but may not bloom this year, hopwever if they are not up very far it is probably ok. Normanlly they are transplanted in September. Lily bulbs are available in garden centers for planting in the spring, and if you have a clump that you can fin (they are not up yet) you could dig and transplant them at this time of the year also.
I have transplanted irises at different times of the year, and haven%26#039;t lost one yet. Sometimes it takes a year for them to bloom again, but it doesn%26#039;t hurt them.
Reply:All of these answers seem to be corect in one way or the other,we grow both and transplant when we feel like it.So there.
Reply:Irises should be planted in the fall. We still have snow on the ground where I live, but if it is spring where you live, it would be fine to transplant the lillies. If you are moving go ahead and try to transplant your irises.
Reply:I just transplanted Japanese Irises given to me. I do not expect a bloom this year. We need to divide and transplant in the fall in zone 8b before new growth starts.
Reply:Yes, but it might make them not bloom this year.
Reply:Yes. You can transplant Iris just about anytime. Fall is the best time for lily%26#039;s. You can do it now if the foliage is very short. If it is close to blooming wait till fall.

I have an indoor peace lily, about six years old.Plant is thriving but there are insects in the soil.?
They are tiny, white, look like a cross between an ant and a caterpillar, about 2-3 mm long, but there are lots of them.Seem to jump a bit.None on the plant itself.
I have an indoor peace lily, about six years old.Plant is thriving but there are insects in the soil.?
Take the plant outside and empty it out of the pot - get rid of the soil (and the bugs) and gently hose off all soil from the roots making sure that you get every bug off and any fluffy debris they create in the leaf axles. Wash your pot in hot soapy water and rinse and dry. Re-pot the Lily in fresh bagged compost (mixed with a third of sand or grit if you have it) and it should continue it%26#039;s long and happy life bug-free. Good luck :-)
Reply:Kill the insects and let the plant live for now.
Reply:My support to you would be.
Cleard the insects out to save d your lilys,or get new soil and cleard the pot.
Reply:If your plant is doing that well, it would be risky to relocate it to a new pot now. I do that if it looks troubled. You can put Sevin Dust in the pot and bring no harm to the plant but kill any bugs in the pot. It%26#039;s a light powder sprinkle, and won%26#039;t hurt people or pets if used in the way I%26#039;m telling you about.
Reply:You may not see them on the plant but they%26#039;re having a feastday underground on the soil and roots of your plant. I mix a little dish detergent with water and use this when I water. It seems to kill off the larva and wash the eggs down the drain. Your local garden centre will also have insecticides that you can use.

ATWT History-Lily, Carly, Emily?
I have only watched ATWT for a few years. I thought that Lily, Carly and Emily were friends. However, when each of them has gone through tough times, the others aren%26#039;t there to help out. Can someone please give me a history lesson of those 3 ladies?

Reply:Ladymert had good advice. Go to soapcentral for in depth info. There is a lot of history between these three ladies.
Reply:If I%26#039;m remembering right, the three of them were kidnapped together at one time... am vaguely remembering them trapped in white bathrobes in some kind of fake day spa. Not sure how long ago this was- either right before, during, or right after the %26quot;Rose%26quot; storyline...
At that time, the three of them really bonded and did form a friendship. Carly and Lily have always been sorta close because they were married to cousins (Jack and Holden.)
But for a while anyway (before the whole Dusty drama) Emily was friends with them too...
Reply:Are you talking about the spa? I thought that was Rose, not Lily. Maybe I am misremembering though.

Reply:I cant answer this fully, but will do the best I can. At the moment Lily is angry with Emily and the late Dusty Donivan because she and Dusty were starting to get together (had been intimate), however Dusty still had feelings for Emily and they ended up being intimate as well.
Lilly and Carly(to the best of my knowledge) appear to get along. I%26#039;ve seen episodes where they confide in each other. Lily was the one that persuaded Carli to tell Jack the truth about her %26quot;illness%26quot; and that she had been misdiagnosed. If these 2 ever had a disagreement over a man or anything else, I%26#039;m not aware of it. The same goes for Emily and Carly, I%26#039;m sure there has been problems, but I%26#039;m not aware of it.

Are Calla Lily flowers locally available in the Philippines?
I%26#039;m getting married in the Philippines next year of February and Calla Lily is my flower theme. Is that flower locally available? Does any of you has an idea of the price as well? Thank you!
Are Calla Lily flowers locally available in the Philippines?
Yes, the Philippines has locally grown Calla Lily. Check with a local florist and get references. Filipinos (and this is a cultural thing) will always answer yes. It%26#039;s just good customer service to say %26quot;yes.%26quot; Like, can you get those for me? Yes. Are you going to have a problem getting those for me? Yes. You will want to make sure the yes you get really means %26quot;yes%26quot;.
Reply:If you are in Manila, then go to Dangwa which is where most flowershops buy their goods! I see all kinds of flowers there and it is open 24 hours! Most people go there after midnight!
If you are in Northern Luzon, they your option would be to buy it in Baguio!
If you are in Southern Luzon, aside from Dangwa, then your option will be Silang, Cavite or Tagaytay!
Reply:ya of course...
Reply:i think 100 per dozen in bukidnon
Reply:i think so i don%26#039;t actually know cause i have never seen Calla Lily flowers since i%26#039;ve been to the Philippines. cause i%26#039;m a filipino.
Reply:yes. and it was one of the cheapest and most expensive flower in the philippines. But if you prefer those with long stem, that will cost you a lot cost most of long stemed calla lily was imported from other country, but if you prefer those short stem, it is cheaper than rose.

Hollyhock bulbs or tubers? Will they bloom this year?
Hi new to bulbs. I just bought some Hollyhock bulbs or tubers from Costco (haven%26#039;t opened yet, didn%26#039;t know hollyhocks were sold this way in a package?) I live in zone 8- Texas, will they bloom this year?
Also, I bought gladiolus and lily bulbs too. Altogether I have close to 120 bulbs planted. Is this enough for an average suburban lot? I have them planted in the front and the backyard. Do I need to buy more or is this a good amount of flowers? What%26#039;s the success ratio for bulbs?
Thanks
Hollyhock bulbs or tubers? Will they bloom this year?
I saw that - hollyhock bulbs - and it surprised me too.
The only thing I can figure is that they are bareroot plants in the package. I%26#039;d be interested to know, if you find out anything more on them!
Go on and get them planted. You live in zone 8, so you are well begun on your spring season. I%26#039;m in zone 8b (just north of Houston). I planted seeds. They%26#039;re just barely pushing up from the soil, and I%26#039;m so excited!
On Bulbs: Success ratio has a lot to do with how healthy the bulbs are (I usually get an 80% success because some bulbs are just not viable), how healthy and supportive your soil is (have you amended it with some good compost?), and so many other factors such as sun availability, water, mulch, etc.
Gardening with bulbs is a trial and error thing. You will know more next year what to plant, when and where just by how it grows this year.
You should get a good display and plenty of flowers from 120 bulbs...do you have plenty of vases on hand?
Happy Gardening!
Reply:hollyhawks probably wont bloom the first year from bulbs however if you can purchase them at a local garden shop that is allready growing in pots they will bloom this year since they were started last year , and yes you have plenty bulbs for your yard , they will mutiply each year and you eventually will have too thin them out good luck with your gharden I love all kinds of beautiful flowers , have my small yard full of them ,
Reply:I%26#039;ve never seen hollyhocks in the form you indicate. I%26#039;ve known them to be started from seed. The plants bloom the second year. They are biennials and once started, they continue by self-seeding. Good luck.

Brown leaf tips on Peace Lily?
I%26#039;ve had a Peace Lily for about a year now, just repotted it to a bigger pot, It has never flowered since I bought it and now the tips of the leaves are turning brown. I keep it in low light and water it frequently (not letting it dry out). I place it in the shower from time to time to spray the leaves. Any help on fixing the brown leaves and getting it to flower again? Thanks!
Brown leaf tips on Peace Lily?
lack of nitrogen in your soil , fix the leaves with a good fertilizer, then give your plant 18 hrs complete darkness and it should flower.
Reply:It sounds like you are over watering it. Also, plants go into %26quot;shock%26quot; when you first repot them then putting tons of water on top of that kinda confuses things. Just keep doing what you are doing and make sure to check the PH levels and dont over water. Let the soil get dry to the touch before you water and dont give too much water. Cleaning the leaves is also a must but only do it once a month just by spraying them with a light mist and gently rub the leaves.
Reply:over watering
possibly in too large a pot
will need to be in bright indirect light to bloom
many peace lilies have a distinct season of bloom and must be in full vigor to come into bloom.
they don%26#039;t mind being root-bound and sometimes this helps them to come into bloom.
I had a peace lily for over a decade that bloomed every Spring. I grew, bought, sold, and shipped them commercially for a reealllly long time.

Just keep doing what you are doing and make sure to check the PH levels and dont over water. Let the soil get dry to the touch before you water and dont give too much water. Cleaning the leaves is also a must but only do it once a month just by spraying them with a light mist and gently rub the leaves.

possibly in too large a pot
will need to be in bright indirect light to bloom
many peace lilies have a distinct season of bloom and must be in full vigor to come into bloom.
they don%26#039;t mind being root-bound and sometimes this helps them to come into bloom.
I had a peace lily for over a decade that bloomed every Spring. I grew, bought, sold, and shipped them commercially for a reealllly long time.

What can I send (small gift) my two year old god daughter, who has EVERYTHING?
My cousin lives in a small condo in CA and has two year old twins... (Tyler %26amp; Lily) I just wanted to send them something other than toys (which they dont have room for)..... any ideas???
What can I send (small gift) my two year old god daughter, who has EVERYTHING?
a piggy bank with their names on it. do a search for someone in your area who does ceramics, or ask around. you could probably pay someone to do something for you. it would be cute if you put each child%26#039;s picture on one side, and then their statistics from when they were born on the other side, with imprints of little feet. also, be sure to have %26quot;From (your name here)%26quot; on the bottom, so they will always know who got it for them. also, anything personalized would be cute. but I remember my godmother doing ceramics when I was little, and she had handprints fired, a piggy bank, plates, cups, saucers. I had my own dinner set. LOL something personlized is always meaningful later. good luck!

Good movies for 5 year olds which don't involve death of parent/parents?

Granted, Nemo had some scenes that might be too intense for a five year old, but most get over it, quickly, thanks to excellent characters, dialogue, and plot. Similar with Babe.
Second, what%26#039;s wrong with a little angst in a child? Are you sure that it%26#039;s YOU who isn%26#039;t disturbed by the thought of such? Help!!!! I can't think of a Harry Potter James/Lily fanifiction!?
This has been bugging me sooo much. Please help! Okay. It starts in seventh year, and James and Lily are secretly going out. They are Head boy and girl. Lily is also going out with some other guy, and I think, but I%26#039;m not sure, that his name is Jonathon. James has a big family, and they are all in Gryffindor. One brother moved away or something. The whole school is secretly betting on whether or not they go out. They get into a fight, and James gets with this girl named Kristina. I think that James%26#039;s younger sisters name is Dezzy, maybe not. The fic would be rated either M or T, and would be on Fanfiction.net, portkey, mugglenet fani fiction, or harrypotterfanfiction.net... Please help me!!!!!!
Help!!!! I can%26#039;t think of a Harry Potter James/Lily fanifiction!?
I don%26#039;t know how to help you. You could let what you have sit for a while, revisit it and see if anything new comes to mind. Sometimes revisiting your old stuff can bring up new ideas.
But some ideas? Well, maybe Kristina cheats on James, and he finds out after people have been trying to tell him -especially Lily, and that%26#039;s why he gets angrier at her, or something, and then they break up and then he has to apologize to everyone, especially Lily, and Lily doesn%26#039;t take it well because she%26#039;s angry that he didn%26#039;t listen to her, so it affects his Quidditch game and in the next match, he gets hurt and she gets worried about him, so she visits him in the Infirmary. Or something. I don%26#039;t know, you work on it from there.

Ohhhhhhhhhhhhhh well, I can%26#039;t help you there. The only HP fanfic I read is Draco+Hermione. There%26#039;s this really good one, if you%26#039;re interested, on fanfiction.net called We Learned The Sea,by luckei1 (I think). I hope you find that story, though. My pussy willow bush has woody growth on many branches. I cut down the day lilies this year with the same prob
Pussywillows are very invasive %26amp; fast growing, they will tear up a foundation faster than anything. They are a woody shrub, so it is no surprise that they have woody growth. Harvest the shoots in the spring while the buds are soft %26amp; fuzzy, use them for dingus day, or keep them for dried flower arrangements.

I'm looking for good Severus Snape/Lily Evans Fanfiction?
A few months ago I was looking for the same thing, and I found a link that brought me to fanfiction.net. I really liked all the stories there but sadly after a while the link stopped working. I tried looking through fanfiction.net but found it impossible! as most of fanfiction was back a few years for Severus/Lily. Is there anyone out there that could help me find the page on fanfiction.net to bring me to recent Severus/Lily fanfiction?

yea im a geek.....but go there it has everything
Reply:Fanfiction.net is a good site, but for what you%26#039;re looking for you should go to harrypotterfanfiction.com. It has a way better system and a lot of better, more stories written by more serious writers. At harrypotterfanfiction.com you can use their search engine to find certain pairings, genres, ect. Maybe you could check out some things I%26#039;ve written? *sneaky smile*
Harrypotterfanfiction.com is a really high quality site, and with every story you are allowed to submit a banner that will act sort of like a cover for your story. There is a really good feedback system and it really is the best fanfiction site I%26#039;ve ever found.

Why don't my lily plants have a flower?
I planted lilies last year. They were not bulbs, but already plants with blooms. They all came back this year and are much bigger and the greenery looks great, but they yet to make a flower. Why? Is it still to early? I have planted more plants this year, and of course they all have flowers on them, but none of the ones I planted last year.
Why don%26#039;t my lily plants have a flower?
It is still too early in my zone (zone 5, U.S.), so maybe it is still early in yours. Often gardeners of plants that are new to them are fooled by what they see blooming in the stores, and think theirs ought to be following suit. But those plants are traised in ideal conditions in greenhouses, and timed to bloom at sale, often before they are really blooming in your zone. Not to worry -- I am sure you will be rewarded soon with big gorgeous lilies! Aren%26#039;t they grand?
Reply:Apparently lilies are a little picky about their environment. Check this site %26amp; make sure yours are in the right location:

Should I find her a new home?
We have 2 cats, Jade (2 years) and Lily (9 months). Jade is, in most ways, perfect - except she%26#039;s not very loving most times (only when she wants to be). Lily on the other hand tends to want attention all the time. However...Lily gets into EVERYTHING (and I do mean everything). She%26#039;ll get on top of the (now empty) fishtank, she%26#039;ll move the phone off the hook (the one on a desk) just to hear the beeping sound because it intrigues her, she%26#039;ll climb on anything and everything, and just when I think I%26#039;ve gotten EVERYTHING she can get into out of her reach, she finds something more. A water bottle doesn%26#039;t work - she doesn%26#039;t pay attention to it. Same with loud sounds (can full of coins for example). Repeated firm NO%26#039;s have no effect, except that when we yell at her and she sees us coming she%26#039;ll get out of whatever she%26#039;s in - but it has no lasting effect if we%26#039;re not here. I%26#039;m running out of patience with her and she%26#039;s driving me crazy! I%26#039;ve tried every trick I can think of. (More)
Should I find her a new home?
I understand your situation completely!! I have three cats 15, 3 and 1. The 3 year old, Marina is just like Lily, even still. Tosca, the baby, is also very active but not annoying like Marina.
I think you need to wait a while longer for lily to calm down. Right now it feels like it will never happen but it will. By 18 months or so, she should be much more calm. I can%26#039;t guarantee she won%26#039;t still do the annoying things. I%26#039;ve compromised and Marina is allowed on the stove and counters as long as I%26#039;m not looking. (Yes, I too find that a bit disgusting but I%26#039;ve tried EVERYTHING to make her stop with no success.) I wash the stove and counters before and after cooking and make sure the burners on the stove are covered with something as long as they are hot. And, of course, I keep her out of the food. You may have to find ways in which you can compromise with your kitty.
For the trash and chips, you can get child proof locks for the cabinets. This should hold her for a little while. For the phone on the desk, can you unplug the handset cord from the base when it is not in use? Then she will learn that the phone no longer has that funny sound and may stop. You%26#039;ll be able to hear the other phone ring in the other room and can plug in the office phone just long enough to use it. She will eventually get the idea that the office phone is no longer fun.
If she is driving you especially crazy one day and you know you can%26#039;t take it much longer, take her to the vet and have them board her overnight. That will 1) give you a break from her antics and 2) let you see how your house will be without her in it. I think you will find putting up with her is easier than knowing someone else is taking care of her.
Good luck to you.
Reply:She is just young. If you have her spayed, her %26quot;rambuntiousness%26quot; will slow down a bit.
Use a spray bottle of water and give her a squirt when you see her doing bad things. They seem to learn quick with this. You don%26#039;t have to spray her in the face or anything...lol.
Try at night time, or when you are out, secluding her to one room. With food and water and litter. This will keep her out of things when you can%26#039;t be there.
Like I said, she is still just a kitten, all the behaviours you have described are normal, however, if you do not deel with them now, you will have a problem on your hands in the near future.
The spray bottle has been effective with everyone I know who has cats.
Good luck.
Don%26#039;t give her away, it%26#039;ll get easier and you%26#039;ll be glad you kept her.
Reply:sounds likea typical kitten and a really smart one at that...
if you live in Hollywood she could be on TV - especially they would love the fact that she can %26quot;answer%26quot; the phone..
however I know pesky crazy kittens are not much fun
the problem might even be food related.. does your food contain color dyes?? color dyes make some cats more hyper.. if your food has lots of muti colored peices it contains dye..
some of the lower quality foods have other problem causing ingredients.. (any from grocery or Wal Mart are low quality foods)
its up to you if you decide to keep her or get rid of her.. just remember what ever home she gets.. how will they treat her???
have you tried some pet repellant sprays?? you cannot spray on top of the fish tank but you can spray other places, even along the bottom of the tank..
make sure you provide her with a cat friendly place..a good cat tower, or cat furniture and encourage her to use that by rubbing cat nip on it..
also provide an assortment of toys.. honeysuckle toys are GREAT!
Reply:keep her with the door closed in a room with a bunch of toys to play with and things to cimb on and lots of things to keep her busy. come in to play with her everyday and you will both be happy.
Reply:She%26#039;s just a kitten, give her sometime. Get a spray bottle, fill with water, trust me, works like a charm!
Reply:Don%26#039;t give up just yet.. Soooo many pet owners do that, which is why so many animals are in shelters, and get put to sleep.
She is still a kitten, she will keep getting into stuff for a little while, then she will mellow out.
try playing with her more too... my cat actually plays fetch with me, and it gets lots of her energy out.
don%26#039;t give up yet, if you cared about her, you would not do that.
Reply:she is young and curious...
have you had her Spayed? I would just keep doing what you are doing and tell her NO and use a Water Bottle and keep squirting her until she acknowledges that you are spraying her
you could try putting her in time out....when she is doing Bad
a crate...
I am hoping that maybe in a few months she will calm down..
try some catnip toys... maybe a rolled up paper and smack it on whatever she is doing wrong ( not on her of course) like the phone and that will make her run away from it...
Reply:They%26#039;ll learn!!!!
Reply:You can crate her when you need a break and she is out of control.

4 year old brother vs. 5 year old sisters?
I have two familes (moms and dads). On my moms side I have a 4 year old brother, Eli, and on my dads, 5 year old twin girls, Mikayla and Rachel. Eli is younger, but seems way more grown up than the girls. He%26#039;ll fold the laundry, wash the dishes (with a little help) and help his/my 7 year old sister- Lily- with her homework. Mikayla and Rachel wont do anything. They run around naked (outside too), cry whenever my stepmom leaves, and can%26#039;t sleep through the night.
Is something different about Eli, or about the girls? I%26#039;m just a little but confused.
4 year old brother vs. 5 year old sisters?
It might be the parenting. Eli%26#039;s parents might be very positive and encourage him a lot. The twins parents might be looser and not mind as much as Eli%26#039;s parents do. Sometimes things like that happen. But overall, girls are the dominant gender.
Reply:Eli seems like a good kid, while the girls needs to start maturing a little.
Reply:eli sounds like a well rounded kid and very intelligent but the twins seem spoiled and sheltered

3 year old daughter with DOWN SYNDROME - how WILL she be?
My 3 year old daughter Lily has down syndrome. She is brilliant. She knows anything from figuring out any toy or puzzle to changing the batteries in her electrical toys! (though we don%26#039;t let her) but she knows how!
She can figure anything out.
She is also a delight. The sweetest little girl around. Smiling and laughing and happy all the time!
BUT she does not speak yet and hardly signs any words. She also is very close but still is not walking on her own. She only takes a few steps here and there.
What I%26#039;d like to know is if you have been in a similar situation. Did you have a toddler with d.s. who was stubborn to learn new things and was slow learning many basic things but is now older and knows how to walk and talk, etc?
Is this a phase? Is there hope for me? I%26#039;m becoming very upset and worried.
Thank you.
3 year old daughter with DOWN SYNDROME - how WILL she be?
My children attend karate school, and one of the owners of the school has a brother with Down%26#039;s Syndrome. He is 39 years old, and just got his third degree black belt! He is one of the most loved people at the karate school.....every time we go in there, he makes the rounds hugging everyone and having a chat with them. His sister tells me that when he was younger, he could barely walk across a room on his own. Now he can do spins and teddy-bear kicks! As others have said, DS children are capable of learning almost anything anyone else does, but it takes them somewhat longer. Your little girl will surprise you with her abilities as time goes on.....enjoy her every day!
Reply:she will be amazing.
she may never be able to do some things, but as you already know she will be very adept at others.
continue to teach/train her. emphasize those areas that she is weak in and continue to encourage her in areas of her strengths.
if she does not walk soon, please see a PT for a consultant. it could be a motor planning issue, and if so they can help her to learn how to move her muscles.
it could be a muscle strength/tendon-ligament issues, and if so they can teach her/you exercises that will help her make progress.
please see a speech therapist as soon as you can. there are a huge variety of ways they can encourage her to verbalize as well as use signs and pictures, all together to foster a rich communication environment. the earlier you can get formal assistance w/speech/communication the better. it seems to have alot to do w/how the neural pathways in the brain form(or don%26#039;t form if you wait too long). At age 3 she is prime for therapy!
i do not have children w/ds but do have a brother w/MR and children w/motor planning issues and speech issues, and i have worked in the field of developmental disabilities for most of my life.
One thing that was the hardest to do w/my youngest son was to not give into him when i knew what he wanted, i knew he could say or sign it and he just wouldn%26#039;t do so. It just about broke both mine and my spouse%26#039;s hearts, but we perservered and now, after about a year of speech therapy, he talks up a storm, still difficult to understand due to pronunciation errors, but SO much better.
Reply:I, personally, haven%26#039;t been in your situation, however I did some research for you and found this link. http://children.webmd.com/tc/Down-Syndro...
Apparantly, you%26#039;re not the only one going through this. The developmental milestones that your daughter is behind in, means that she%26#039;s actually on track for herself. I%26#039;m sure you%26#039;ve heard the people saying that each child is an individual and progress on their own time. It%26#039;s especially true for your daughter. For any 3 year old, she is extremely smart in what she does know, and right on track with everything else.
My only suggestion to you is to find a Down Syndrome Support Group and meet with the other moms. Support Groups might not sound that great to you, but it would put your mind at ease about all your worries.
Good luck!
Reply:D.S. children develop slower than %26quot;normal%26quot; children. She will walk and talk in her own time. I am just delighted to hear that she is so good at figuring out things at 3 years old. Just keep up the good work, and if there are no physical problems that can account for her walking and talking, rest assured that she will do it in her own time. Good luck.

Has anyone ordered from Lily's Kids.com for christmas?
We usually do our Christmas and %26quot;Santa%26quot; shopping through Amazon.com. It is so much easier to do than dragging 3 kids from store to store. Plus they do free shipping on some stuff. We%26#039;ve done this for the past 4yrs or so.
We got a catalog this year from Lily%26#039;s kids and I love the things they have in there. Great educational stuff. Plus they will do free personalization. This is important for my kids. They mark their name on everything. lol
So have you ordered from there? Did you like it?
Has anyone ordered from Lily%26#039;s Kids.com for christmas?
Yes, I have ordered from there. I purchased some gifts from there last year and am going to be a repeat buyer and get some from there this year. I got my son a personalized puzzle. It is wooden and spells his name. They have good quality stuff.

Reply:this is a great place to order from I have ordered from it. plus I work for the post office and alot of my customers shop from it to.

Spring bulbs blooming & I am moving. Can I remove bulbs from ground and take w/me to new home for next year?
or will I harm them by removing them before they flower?.... and will they survive the trauma/shock I feel I must be puttting them through? Thank you
They are iris, crocus, daffodil, freesia and more. I also have a beautiful Caribean Lily in bloom now- I am wanting to snip the petals flowers and leaves and take only the bulbs.
Thank you.
Spring bulbs blooming %26amp; I am moving. Can I remove bulbs from ground and take w/me to new home for next year?
Yes you can, but they will not bloom again for the rest of the year. They could also go dormant for up to 3 years. You may or may not get them next year. In this situation, patience is best. You definatley wont kill them though, not unless you cut damage the bulbs themselves. Alot of people don%26#039;t know that bulbs are actually very hardy... it%26#039;s the blooms that are hard to take care of! Make sure that when you plant them for next year that you plant them in the fall.
Reply:I agree with Misty but I just wanted to add not to cut the tops off if you are going to put them back in the ground now. If you cut them leave about 1%26quot; or more stem %26amp; store them in the basment %26amp; keep them dry untill fall.
Reply:Take everything that you love ...Don%26#039;t leave those special flowers behind. Just dig them out in clumps and do not distub the soil. Replant at your new home.
Reply:sure just secure them good, that they don%26#039;t get broken in pieces or destroy
Reply:You may just dig the root the whole ways out so you can transplant it.

Why do my arum lilies not flower. the first year Ithey flowered but not for past three years. please help.?
I purchased my lily four years ago in full flower. After the first season I split them into two. They are kept in large pots with a peat filled compost %26amp; kept fed %26amp; watered

I hope your still not spiting them up. Maybe you should have waited
for 2 yr. to split them apart. and don%26#039;t over feed them They don%26#039;t need alot of water. let the soil become almost dry before watering again. Why doesn't my peace lily grow new flowers?
I got it about 5 months ago. It had flowers then. But they eventually died so I cut them off. Now it has only grown new leaves, but no new flowers. Do they only bloom at certain times of the year?
And no, it isn%26#039;t in too big of a pot. The pot I replanted it was only maybe an inch bigger if that.
Why doesn%26#039;t my peace lily grow new flowers?
Well, peace lillies grow best in the shade and usually don%26#039;t need alot of sun (but they still need it!). They like warm places, so if you happen to live in the north and it%26#039;s sitting right by your door, I suggest removing it to a more warmer place. They are also kinda sensitive to chlorinated water so let your watering can stand overnight before watering your plant.
The most likely culprit in this case seems like lack of fertilizer. It apparently takes just a few months for the soil to be depleted of nutrients -%26gt; in your case, used up for growing leaves.
I suggest you get a fertilizer with extra PHOSPHATE in it. Phosphate usually encourages blooming in any flowering plant. Give it a try.
Reply:How about plant food for your flowers and it will help you out too o,k.?
Reply:Plants tend to flower because they feel threatened......and they want to have kids before they die. Okay, that sounds silly, but the flowers contain the seeds. Let it dry out a couple of times just to the point where it starts to wilt, keep a careful eye on it.......with any luck and a little time it will flower again.
Reply:ask them and they will come

Peace Lily is drooping, leaves on edges turning brown, new leaves are really green then curl up, no flowers?
It is in the same place it has been in the last year and done fine. I got it last september, repotted it from the pot done by the florist to a small one, over growned it pot, changed to a larger one in July, this problem just started last month. Sometimes not always mold will appear on top, so i took out the mold on top and quit watering, mold stopped but the symptoms above continue. Now my new leaves are dark green and does well until the leaf begins to open and the it wilts, or after completely opening it will drop

your plant is not getting enough watter;hint why it is wilting.(peace-lilies are watter lovers.)more than any other house plant. you have a problem in the soil , bad drainage or both, change soil and have a pot that drained. water once a week unless wilts give it a little bit to make it to your next water day. than add a little bit more. don%26#039;t let dry completely out.
Reply:always let it dry between waterings. maybe getting too much water.
Reply:what is different is it air conditioning, heater, are there small white aphids under the leaves.
Somethng has changed.

When do you know when to re pot a plant....my peace lily has been in the same pot almost a year and how do you
Your plant will let you know when it needs a larger home=not thriving but just surviving! A Peace Lily does NOT grow at a rate that would need to be re-potted every two months, in doing so would be too much of a shock to the plant. When re-potting: whatever size pot the plant is in now go to a pot 2 inches larger ONLY! Too large of a pot will force the majority of plant energy to go to the roots only. You want a 50/50 balance of growth between both the roots and the foilage. In the wintertime you want to back off of the plant food (fertilizer) so the plant may have a resting period, seeing that you have a blooming type of plant.
When do you know when to re pot a plant....my peace lily has been in the same pot almost a year and how do you
As the previous poster said, check the see if is rootbound. You may even see roots growing out the drainage holes on the bottom of the pot. If it is rootbound, buy some good potting soil and replant it in the next sized pot. Don%26#039;t go from a tiny pot to a huge one. If it doesn%26#039;t need repotted, you should feed it house plant food as often as recommended on the package. A plant in old worn out soil has used up the nutrients in the soil and they need to be replenished.
Reply:you know if the plant is getting too big for the pot , or you gently tap the plant out of the pot and check the roots.
If they are starting to grow in a circle around the pot , it needs to go in a bigger pot. Some plants you can trim the roots back and it will still live , but wont grow as much .

The plant called Crimson Asiatic Lily does this plant come up every year, and does it spread?
It is a small bush about 24x12 fully grown. pink in color
The plant called Crimson Asiatic Lily does this plant come up every year, and does it spread?
Yes, the plant will come back year after year. Its a perenial.
And it really spreads. It should be dug up after about 5 years, and split it into 4 seperate plants, and replant. They are very hardy. They withstand winters well, with alittle mulch

I have a Christmas lily and it did not bloom for christmas. How do I get it to bloom for next year?
Make sure it%26#039;s properly fertilized. Plants need nutrients to bloom. Blooms are like fruit: no nutrients = no fruit. Try giving it some Miracle Grow throughout the year and I bet you%26#039;ll have a gorgeous prize Christmas Lily this next Christmas.
Good luck and I hope this helps!!!

How can i keep the snails and slugs off my lily plants. I fight them every year.?
Copper has been shown to work as a snail and slug repellent.
When the pest makes contact with the copper it causes a reaction similar to an electric shock, which repels them. It is non-toxic, long lasting, with no possible potential poisoning of other species.
Escar-Go! lures slugs with a naturally-occurring substance, then kills them within days.
Escar-Go! is a unique blend of iron phosphate (it occurs naturally in soil) and a bait that lures slugs and snails away from their hiding places.
Diatomaceous earth is another solution. It must be reapplied after every rain. It is natural, and will not cause harm to pets and children. Snails and slugs die after losing as little as 10% of their body moisture through microscopic scratches caused by the Diatomaceous earth.
Sluggo is an organic compound used to control both slugs and snails. Its active ingredient is iron phosphate, an organic compound that breaks down into fertilizer. Unlike common metaldehyde baits, which are quite toxic to animals, Sluggo can be used around pets and wildlife without adverse effects. It also remains effective even after rainfall or irrigation. Sluggo is also approved for use on fruit or vegetable gardens at all times, right up to harvest. (Metaldehyde products can only be used until fruit begins to form on plants.) Any Sluggo not eaten by slugs or snails biodegrades back into the soil as iron %26amp; phosphate fertilizer.
Snail and slug traps are also useful. You can make your own from a baby food or pimento jar or you can buy a commercially produced trap. Bury the trap so the rim is level with the ground, half-fill it with beer, which holds an irresistible attraction to slugs and snails, who will then happily drown! Also useful for earwigs if baited with soy sauce and a thin film of vegetable oil on top.
Hope this helps. Snails and slugs can be a real aggravation. Best of luck!
How can i keep the snails and slugs off my lily plants. I fight them every year.?
Dust the area and the leaves but NOT the flowers with D.E. (Diatomaceous Earth)
It is a totally natural bug killer, that is safe around humans and pets, but is lethal to insects, the micron (1/1,000,000 inch) sized particles act as razor blades and kill the bugs, if Bees get caught will kill them too, so keep off of the flowers.
Will last until next rain and then it washes into soil.
TIP: also great for under cupboards etc, as it never %26#039;wears out%26#039; and kills spiders, insects, roaches, ants etc.
Obtainable from Lowes and Home depot
Reply:a bowl of beer..seriously that or salt.

How can I harvest lily seed pods to plant next year?
I am talking about the thick green pod under the stamen that you can see when the petals fall off. I was told there are seeds inside, like a poppy, and it sure looks that way to me. Can I dry them out and plant them? Do I leave them inside the pod while drying or break it open..?
FYI They look like daylillies, orange, about 4 or 6 blooms were on this one stalk. They were in an arrangement I received.
How can I harvest lily seed pods to plant next year?
Leave the seeds to dry in the pod. You could try growing them, but remember it will take a few years before you get a lily bulb large enough to produce a flower. Also the flower may not be like the original flower. Good luck.
Reply:Won%26#039;t work. The seeds are immature. Shop around for the same variety and buy bulbs.

Why has my Water Lily produced no flowers this year?
There are times when mine don%26#039;t bloom either. Some one told me that it could be that either the water is too hot or too cold and that they be too many in the pot and they may need to be separated into other pots. In my case, they needed to be separated into other pots, I even gave some away.
Why has my Water Lily produced no flowers this year?
Overcrowded plants will not bloom so this could be the cause.
You can generally tell if the plant is overcrowded because it will start to send some of it%26#039;s leaves up above the water instead of them just laying on the surface.
Divide in the spring.
Reply:With some varieties depth of water is crucial. Dividing the plants in the spring can help too. Also, make sure that they are not in moving water.
I don%26#039;t wish to add to your misery, but we adopted these measures this year and have had so far 11 blooms from one plant, with more to come! Much better than last year when we had 2 miserable blooms from several (overcrowded) plants.

I have a peace lily (indoor) that I split in the spring. It's healthy but has not flowered this year. Why?
I split the original plant last spring by simply cutting it in half and repotting into new soil/compost. The two plants are both healthy and continually send out new leaves, but neither has flowered this year. What can I do to help them flower?
I have a peace lily (indoor) that I split in the spring. It%26#039;s healthy but has not flowered this year. Why?
They like to be tightly compacted in the pot to flower.
Reply:Move them to less light. Spaths are spastic, they prefer lower light to initiate flowers.
Reply:with splitting them, they will flower the following year.instead of splitting, you should have transfered to a larger pot.
Reply:From past experience i have found they tend not to flower for at least 12 months when first split, it will bloom next year
Reply:Don%26#039;t worry, it is as Big Wullie says. They are also spending most of their energy growing roots again and will become healthier for it. You did the right thing :-)
Reply:I%26#039;m guessing maybe from the shock of splitting it. It probably wont this year but I can guarantee that it will next year with some TLC from you!
Reply:Has Sugar eaten the flower part...?
Reply:no one else who responded here knows that when the flowers are spent you should cut the stalk of the flower off near the leaf and let it dry completely .. every now and then try to tug the stalk out . when it is ready it will pop out easily.. when it does the plant will push out a new flower at that spot..
..
Reply:Your peace lily being split is just like you or i after an operation we need a rest before getting on with life again, it is having a rest, feed it and let is build its self up again naturally.
Reply:I am looking at my peace lily right now that I have had 13 years. Its as big as a kitchen table. You did good by splitting it. Dont worry a bit about it not flowering. It will again. I have always watered mine with WARM water and it blooms all year long. I got this hint from a local Lily and hosta grower. Give it a bit of miracle grow a couple times a month. I disagree with the no light. Mine love indirect sun light. Its quite the conversation plant at my house. Happy lily growing to you.

If I plant lily bulbs now, will they bloom this year or should I just get the already grown plants?
I%26#039;m redoing my garden and I am needing like 50 lilies (big garden). Should I just wait and buy them from the store, or go ahead and plant bulbs now? I%26#039;m kind of new to bulbs so I%26#039;m not real sure what to do. I usually just buy the little 6-pack container of flowers from lowes or walmart. Thanks for any help!
If I plant lily bulbs now, will they bloom this year or should I just get the already grown plants?
Summer flowering lily bulbs are fine to be planted in spring. Autumn planted bulbs are spring flowering, which doesn%26#039;t really include lilies.
Lilium Regale is an incredible white lily, that has a powerful scent.
http://www.bbc.co.uk/gardening/plants/pl...
Otherwise, it%26#039;s fine to shop at places like Walmart for bulbs, as they can have some good prices. Tips for choosing good lily bulbs, are to look for firm bulbs, the larger the better, as they will contain this summer%26#039;s flowers inside the bulb, and avoid any with damage, including rotting, mould etc.
There are online shops too, where they may have some interesting varieties for you:
http://www.bdlilies.com/
The following ship their bulbs throughout the USA from April - they also guarantee their bulbs, which is a good thing for a first time grower-
http://www.lilybulb.com/spicyorientals.h...
You can also grow lilies from seed, though they wouldn%26#039;t flower this year. Thompson and Morgan are a famous international seeds co, and have some in their range.
http://www.tmseeds.com/
Hope these thoughts help. Good luck! Rob
Reply:Do not plant bulbs now, it is too late. You need to plant bulbs about six weeks before freezing temperatures. You can either buy the already grown plants now, or wait until fall and plant bulbs that will bloom next spring.
Reply:Well, it really depends where the location is. The reason is because it takes time to grow, and for it to grow, you got to let it grow in places that are in good condtition. So, it will be better to just buy the grown one because it is easy to manage.
Reply:Ones planted now are likelier to bloom next year. Get some of each and you%26#039;ll be ready for this summer and for next.

Should I cover my new lily sprouts tomorrow evening?
I planted my new lily bulbs 4 days ago and some of them are already sprouting above the surface of the soil/mulch. I%26#039;m fairly new at gardening and would like to have a decent turnout this year (wouldn%26#039;t we all!!) But we%26#039;re having a cold snap for the next few days and I%26#039;d like to know if I should cover my plants (buds). I suppose it really couldn%26#039;t hurt to cover them if I%26#039;m in doubt, but I wanted to hear some of your more experienced thoughts on the matter!
Here%26#039;s the forecast for Fort Worth, TX:
Tomorrow: A few rain showers early mixing with snow showers later in the day. Cold. High 42F. Chance of precip 40%.
Tomorrow night: Cloudy with rain and snow showers in the evening. Snow showers overnight. Cold. Low around 35F. Chance of precip 60%. A slushy accumulation of less than one inch.
Thank you so much for your help!
Should I cover my new lily sprouts tomorrow evening?
We are colder than your area. Flowers in bloom or about to bloom get the most damaged and some leaves will wilt, but generally all perennials make it. We got in the 20%26#039;s last 2 nights and the same for tonight. I do not cover or uncover any perennials ever and our weather is good for changing. That is why they call us the %26quot;Sho Me State%26quot;.
Reply:take some sticks and push them in the ground around your bulbs and cover with a sheet if you are worried---freezing is 32 and below that if it does not get that cold they should be ok. If you use an old sheet you can pick it up shake it out and use again, you can also wash later and keep for future use. Much better than plastic. this is for night time, leave off during the day.

I bought a few lily plants earlier on in the year, which have now died off.?
Will they come again next year and what do i have to do with them now?ie. do i need to cut them down or anything? They are in a medium sized teracotta pot.
I bought a few lily plants earlier on in the year, which have now died off.?
Let them die back naturally, give them a little general purpose fertiliser(tomato food will do) to help build them up for next year. Move the pots into a cold greenhouse over the winter (out of the frost).
Reply:I cut mine to about 1-1/12 inch . They are bulbs...they%26#039;ll come back
Reply:They will come again next year, just feed with plant food once a week, to put the goodness back into the bulbs. When the stems have gone brown, take off. Keep watering another couple of weeks. Then lift the bulb%26#039;s out, you should have some additional bulbs growing-split the bulbs off. put in a place to dry. Put in a paper bag until next May. The plant back into the tub%26#039;s etc-start all over again.
Reply:I just thought that as you are asking about Lillie%26#039;s i would tell you that they are poisonous. My friends cat was poisoned by the powder on the stamen it was strong enough to kill it.So i assume you or your neighbours don%26#039;t have cats.Remember to wash your hands.
Reply:Need, no, GOT to be immersed in a pond or water garden with plenty of light and calm non-running water in vacinity. Pots are for plants, not water lillies so get them re-housed ASAP ! Plenty of books on subject at good garden centres so PLEASE PLEASE, keep them alive - I adore w.lillies ! W
Reply:Yep, they%26#039;ll come back, bigger and better than ever! Unless they%26#039;re in my garden, in which case, they%26#039;re gone for good. Hard to believe that my sister is a professional horticulturalist when I%26#039;m such a plant murderer. LOL
Reply:Cut them off about a fore-finger from the ground. Leave them in the ground, i leave mine and they have flowered every year. The biggest problem i have is with little red beetles but that is when they are flowering. I have quite a variety of them and i wish you luck with yours. Take care.

My 2 year old dog (named Lily) is very hyper? Help!?
My Lhasa Apso Lily is too hyper! She runs around my house jumping on everybody and play biting! Sometimes it hurts. Help!!!
My 2 year old dog (named Lily) is very hyper? Help!?
Get her some exercise, exercise, and more exercise. Most problems with hyperactivity, barking, and biting can be fixed for the most part with exercise. Take her outside and throw a toy, run, or play tug-o-war with a rope toy. People make the mistake of thinking small dogs are easy maintenance when in reality they are just as active and require just as much of the same kind of attention as larger dogs. She should be getting about one hour of good exercise broken up throughout the day and not just inside the house. Take her outside and let her explore. Giving her a chance to exercise her nose will also wear her out.
Reply:exercise her vigorously several times a day.
get her training -- she should definitely be taught that jumping on people and biting will NOT be tolerated, especially as she%26#039;s no puppy. research each problem individually for help on each one.
Reply:I have a Lhaso Apso/ shitzu cross rescued from a puppy mill and have learned from experience that they tend to be very demanding little tyrants when it comes to attention if permitted. (I am used to taking in much larger breeds). You can try holding the mouth closed for a short period of time, but I have found that the best way to stop a dog from mouthing people is to hold onto the tongue and bottom jaw frimly, but not hard while stating %26quot;off%26quot; or %26quot;no bite%26quot;. It is very uncomfortable for them and I have found that it works well on small and large breeds of dog alike. When you release, offer a firm chewing bone instead.
You may have to start at the beginning when it comes to jumping on people. When she jumps up, put her down and say no. Reward with a small treat if she stays down. As this breed can be quite stubborn. If she doesn%26#039;t listen, you can resort to placing her in a dog cage. These social butterflies hate being ignored and I have found that mine now sits at our feet and only jumps up on people that welcome it.
The worst thing you can do is yell. This breed seems to be very sensitive and this can lead to submisive urination.
While a Lhaso never loses it%26#039;s whimsical nature, they do slow down a little with age also. ( If you compare them to a three-year old child it sometimes helps).
Reply:Trust me let her run around as much as she can. I have a teacup chihuahua named tinkerbel and she did that for many months just let her go outside and just run!!!
Reply:I think everyone eles is right she needs exirsize maybe its her food is she eating any junk food or does she eat of the table?
Reply:She needs more exercise. A happy dog is a tired dog!
Reply:Are u sure it%26#039;s not the other way around? Dogs crave affection, praise %26amp; treats. If worse come to worse find a helpful breeder,Google,or Vetenarian hope this helps
Reply:You should think if more exercise and training for the dog.
Reply:You should take her for a really long walk maybe with her wearing a backpack with a couple of rocks in it.. A backpack will make the walk more tiring for your dog and she will be more relaxed at home. For the nipping and jumping I would suggest very firm discipline. You can redirect her attention using treats or a favorite toy.
Reply:She needs more exercise or another dog to play with obviously.
Take her for walks or get her a playdate with another small dog.
Reply:I Suggest you Take her on walks atleast once a day or run around with lily in a area with alot of open space. Also i would reccomnd that you get another dog that lily can run around with it will burn off some of her energy.

Plant question...I got an Easter lily this year. Do I let it dry out and plant it in the fall?
Someone told me that they only bloom every other year...is that true? Thanks
Plant question...I got an Easter lily this year. Do I let it dry out and plant it in the fall?
When the plant dies.. there will be a bulb left in the dirt. You can either keep it in there.. or take it out and dry it ( I keep mine in the dirt and pot it came in. Then next year it will grow a new plant.. You can also take out the bulb and carefully break off the other bulbs that are attached to it. ( I call them babies ).. Plant them in new pots.. I have 8 from one plant so far. They bloom every year.. At least mine do.
Reply:No - if the bloom has faded, plant it in the yard and keep it growing as long as it will. If your winters are not harsh, they can be kept in the ground, otherwise dig up and store, then replant in spring.

Young and the Restless: Do you think Lily and Daniel will be back in a relationship later in the year?
Sometimes love don%26#039;t last, but that%26#039;s okay there is always a second chance. In 2005 after Cassie%26#039;s accident, Lily soon fell in love with Daniel because she was worried about him and didn%26#039;t want him to get hurt. They began an affair running away without their parents knowing. Then Neil, Phyllis, Nick found Daniel and Lily in California and went back to Genoa City to face the music. Then later on when the judge said that Daniel was innocent of Cassie%26#039;s death, they spent the night together. (Skip to 2007) okay so then Lily and Daniel divorced because or theft, and pornography. Well.... the two don%26#039;t really see much of each other and they haven%26#039;t talked since Crimson Lights was announcing the Jabot finalists. Maybe later in the year or two Daniel and Lily can have flashbacks of all the good times they had and the love they had for each other. Maybe, who knows they can have an affair or break up with their current relationships. It%26#039;s sad I want them back!!!! Don%26#039;t you think?

Ms. Khalili has literally destroyed the Lily character, making her unlikable with any man who is not part of the High School Musical franchise or other Disney investment. I never watched when Davetta Sherwood was on, but she seemingly made Lily more mature. DS needs to get back on the bandwagon ASAP!

I know Amber makes some really bad choices in her life, but I feel that her and Daniel are more suitable. They have lots in common, get along great and just have that overall chemistry that he lacked with Lily. They were fine when they were younger, but not anymore.

This is year number 2 at this house and there is lily folliage, but no bloom or even buds, any idea why?
Doesn%26#039;t appear to be stella de oro, but may be day lily. Do day lilies have different bloom times? The only thing I can think of was maybe the folliage was cut back the year before I moved and it needed last year to preparea again to flower... The stella de oro lilies bloomed last year and there are already buds, but not on the other lily plant.
This is year number 2 at this house and there is lily folliage, but no bloom or even buds, any idea why?
If they are daylillies, they may be crowded out. Check after the normal summer bloom period. Dig them up and divide them, that may do the job and get you blooms next year.
Reply:You may need to fertilize them early in the season. It may be too late for this year but find a good fertilizer for daylilies and use it early next spring.

Should I let my 6 year old listen to Lily Allens new album?
My daughter has heard Lily Allen on the radio and tv and asked me to get her album.. the reason Im asking this is because some of the subjects Lily sings about are quite adult and im not sure if I would be doing the right thing by letting her listen..
Please visit my site also...

Should I let my 6 year old listen to Lily Allens new album?
I personally wouldn%26#039;t because the lyrics wouldn%26#039;t do an impressionable young mind much good. I don%26#039;t think she would be a very good influence for your daughter. Get her some Bob Marley instead :o)
Reply:Up to you, but do you want your child to know about a girl whose boyfriend cant make her c** and who use%26#039;s the c word.
Shame really cos the songs are allright, some of the language is not suitable for a six year old. Just listen before she does i guess.
Reply:Absolutely not, I have the album and there is foul language throughout. Why don%26#039;t you provide your 6 year old with a childhood instead.
Reply:Well depends on you, can%26#039;t be worse than listening to a 50cent album right?
Reply:WHY NOT MIGHT BE EDUCATIONAL FOR HER
Reply:nooooo man! its got swearing in it like!
Reply:yes you can, when i was 6 i didn%26#039;t really listen to the words that much, i just liked the tune.
Reply:If you don%26#039;t think she should, don%26#039;t let her listen to it. The question I have is why should a bunch of strangers decide what your daughter should listen to? Only you have control over that.
Reply:To be posting this question you must feel that it is not appropriate. However, i must add that as your daughter is only 6 years old will she really understand the adult content?
Her music has really catchy tunes and it is easy to see why your daughter might be attracted to the sound.
Personally, as the mother of 2 now teenage son%26#039;s, i have never limited anything regarding music and they have turned out ok.
The only thing you might encounter is your daughter singing the words. In smile, it starts, %26#039;When you first met me i was wanting more, but you was f...in that girl next door........
You have to ask would you like her repeating these words, because that%26#039;s what children do?
Most children are exposed to worse foul language in the home than in the song, so it is really up to you.........!!!!
Reply:Only as punishment !!
Seriously though, shes a six year old and won%26#039;t understand the subject matter of the songs, why don%26#039;t you encourage her to listen to some different music. Or bribe her and tell her you%26#039;ll nuy her something else instead.
Reply:In a word........... NO.
Reply:let the kid have some freedome thats all you wanted when you were a kid right we all want freedom give it to him
Reply:Instead of buying the album, buy one of Lily Allen%26#039;s singles that doesn%26#039;t have any adult content in it!
Reply:You should download the radio edits from the internet rather than giving her the whole album.
The radio edits are edited for daytime commercial radio.
Reply:Kid tend to repeat songs with friends and I don%26#039;t think you want her doing it in school. It%26#039;s only gonna get her in trouble. I really wish our children did not have to listen to music that influance them in a negative way. I suppose it%26#039;s the world we live in these days.
Reply:Listen to the CD yourself. If you don%26#039;t believe it is correct for her to listen to, then don%26#039;t let her listen to it.
The best person to make that call is you. If you have reservations, I%26#039;d say it%26#039;s best to not let her listen to it. Six years old is very young to be teaching them adult subjects.
Reply:nonono its bad incourgment, teach her the word no, if she gets everything she wishes, she%26#039;ll be a living terror if theres something she cant have when shes older. she had to learn that theres some things in life u want but you cant have... hope that helps xx

Do you think that in the new harry potter movie they will have the scene with james and lily back in year 5?
in the 5th book of harry potter, there is a scne with james and lily potter and the marauders back in their 5th year, so do you think that that scene will be in the movie? the scene was from %26#039; Snapes worst memory%26#039; chapter!
Do you think that in the new harry potter movie they will have the scene with james and lily back in year 5?
Yes, but the film makers cut Lily. It only shows the Marauders torturing Snape. It%26#039;s a bit disappointing actually. The book shows more Lily/James interaction, whereas the movie is just a flashback (and in the book, Harry looks into Snape%26#039;s pensieve).
Oops, this is a giveaway for those who didn%26#039;t watch it yet.
Sorry, loose lips sink ships :)
I didn%26#039;t particularly like this one but I hope you enjoy(ed?) it!
Reply:Well they did have James Potter the teen, and Sirius and Snape, but no Lily.
Reply:My sister just saw the movie, and they show the memory with James in it, but Lily can%26#039;t be seen.
Reply:its not voltron like why would 5 @$$holes in giant robot cats show up and why keep a stupid voltron movie secret?
Reply:I would hope so, but my brother saw the movie and said that they dont show every thing from the book
Reply:i watchd the movie and they do show james and sirius bullying snape but no angry lily/
Reply:Well, if you want me to spoil it for you:
Snape%26#039;s scene IS in the new movie and you saw the Marauders, however I did not see Lilly. I would encourage you go to www.the-leaky-cauldron.org website to see if it is there. They have all kinds of pictures.
Reply:No there is no scene like that in the movie just James levitating Snape laughing at him with Sirius Black.
Reply:I have seen photos from that scene in filming on mugglnet just go to there website I am sure you can see the pics there.
Reply:oooh i hope so!!!
i love the marauders. :]
but i%26#039;m not sure, since the fifth book is the longest and the producers had to cut a lot of stuff out to keep the movie short enough... :(
eeek i can%26#039;t wait until the movie comes out!! :D
Reply:It was in the movie but Lily did not appear in the scene. It was a scene about James being evil moreson that anything else. He levitates Snape upside down.
Reply:Harry Potter is so boring (Whats all the hype)
